Barnsdall Arts Sunday: Medusa Sculptures

Posted on Dec 3, 2017 in Barnsdall Arts Sundays, blog, eco art | No Comments

Embrace a bad hair day by making a Medusa sculpture from home-made clay at Barnsdall Arts Sunday. Make a face that can turn a person to stone.

Here’s the recipe for salt dough, the medium we are using:

In a mixing bowl, combine:

  • 1 Cup Salt
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • Water (add one teaspoon at a time and knead until the mixture has the consistency of Play-Dough)
  • Cooking oil (optional)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Make your sculpture and bake on a cookie sheet at 200 degrees for a couple of hours or until the sculpture is hard.
Use acrylic paint and then acrylic medium (or Modge-Podge) to seal it.
